LEGAL & POLICIES

Terms of Service

The rules and guidelines for using PilotBrief. Please read these terms carefully before using the bot.

Important: PilotBrief provides informational tools only. It is not an aviation authority, dispatch service, or substitute for official flight-planning and weather sources.

PLEASE READ

Terms that keep us on course.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of PilotBrief, a Discord bot that can help users retrieve SimBrief flight-plan information and airport weather data. By using PilotBrief, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the bot.

01

Agreement to terms

By adding, accessing, or using PilotBrief, you confirm that you can legally agree to these Terms and that you will follow applicable laws, Discord’s terms and policies, and any rules that apply to your use of connected services.

02

The service

PilotBrief may offer commands such as linking a SimBrief Pilot ID, viewing or removing that ID, retrieving a recent flight plan, and requesting airport weather information. Features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time.

PilotBrief is provided for convenience and informational purposes. Always independently verify flight plans, weather, NOTAMs, airport conditions, aircraft limitations, and operational decisions using current official sources and procedures.

03

User information and saved data

If you use the Pilot ID linking feature, PilotBrief may store your Discord user ID alongside the SimBrief Pilot ID you submit so it can retrieve the relevant flight plan for you. Do not submit information you are not authorized to share.

You can use the bot’s available commands to remove your saved Pilot ID. Removal from the bot’s active data store may not remove backups or logs immediately, if any exist. The operator should update this section to accurately describe actual storage, retention, logging, hosting, and deletion practices before publishing.

Do not include passwords, authentication tokens, or other account credentials in commands or messages. The bot operator will not ask you to send your Discord password or bot token.

04

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use PilotBrief in violation of any law or third-party terms.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, exploit, or gain unauthorized access to the bot or its infrastructure.
  • Use the bot to harass others, distribute malicious content, or interfere with Discord services.
  • Misrepresent the bot’s outputs as official, guaranteed, or authoritative aviation information.
  • Abuse commands or external APIs in a way that creates unreasonable load or violates applicable rate limits.

Access may be restricted or terminated if the bot is misused or these Terms are violated.

05

Third-party services

PilotBrief may interact with third-party services, including Discord, SimBrief, and WeatherAPI. Those services are operated independently and may have their own terms, privacy policies, availability limits, and data practices. PilotBrief does not control or guarantee third-party services or their outputs.

Use of third-party services remains subject to their applicable terms and policies.

06

Availability and disclaimers

PilotBrief is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. No guarantee is made that the bot will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that information returned by external services will be complete, accurate, or current.

Do not use PilotBrief as the sole basis for real-world flight operations. Pilots and operators remain responsible for consulting authoritative aviation sources and exercising their own judgment.

07

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the PilotBrief operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, service interruption, or decisions made in reliance on bot output. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so is prohibited by law.

Have this section reviewed for the laws that apply to you before publishing.

08

Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date above should be revised when changes are made. Continued use of PilotBrief after updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
